Out-of-home advertising in Australia has a measurement problem. For decades, advertisers bought billboards on the basis of modelled traffic counts, not actual audience. Canopy provides anonymous, privacy-safe audience measurement for digital signage — without tracking a single person.
What we measure
Anonymous audience count
How many people looked at the screen, for how long, in which direction. Directional, not individual.
Age/gender bracket
Broad bracket estimates (e.g. 18–34 / 25–34 / 35–49 / 50+, and male/female/unknown). Aggregated, never linked to an identity.
Dwell and attention
How long someone looked at the screen. The metric that actually justifies a CPM.
For out-of-home
Edge-based anonymous counting replaces modelled traffic counts with a measured audience number per screen, without tracking individuals across the network.
Deployment example
A digital screen typically gets a small camera mounted above the display, feeding a Canopy CU-1 in the equipment cabinet. The edge runs the audience model; the event stream reports aggregated brackets and dwell by hour. Publishers get a defensible audience report; advertisers get a number they can brief against.
