Canopy measures front-desk queues, lobby dwell and concierge wait from existing cameras. Inference runs on site; frames are discarded on the edge.
What we measure
Front-desk queue
Average wait time, peak arrival windows, abandoned check-ins. Triggers an extra desk agent when the queue exceeds two minutes.
Lobby dwell
How long guests linger, where they cluster. Useful for bar and F&B staffing, and for identifying friction points.
Concierge and bell desk
Wait times at the bell desk and taxi rank. Commonly a hidden pain point that directly drives review scores.
Privacy
We do not identify guests. We do not cross-reference arrivals against the PMS. We do not watch rooms. The cameras we deploy are positioned at public zones — the lobby, the queue line, the taxi rank — and the edge discards frames in under a second.
For hotels
- Guest-facing signage. We supply signage copy for guest areas: "Anonymous queue measurement in operation".
- It plugs into the systems you already run. Events go to your PMS (Opera, Mews, Cloudbeds), your workforce management tool, and your guest-experience platform.
- It survives a network outage. Hotels on the regional coasts do not have CBD-grade WAN. Our edge unit keeps working.
Deployment example
A four-star city hotel typically starts with three cameras: one above the front desk, one in the lobby, one at the taxi rank. A single Canopy Unit (CU-1) handles all three. Within four weeks the duty manager has a live view of queue length, peak arrival windows, and where to put extra staff on a Saturday afternoon.
